Musician Promoter Workshop 2: Case Studies, Social Networks, Social Media & Reaching Potential Fans

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- For musicians and promoters looking for technology, marketing, branding, industry & general advice, an academic resource has arrived in San Francisco. In the heart of the Mission district, the SF Musician & Promoter Workshop provides 90 minutes of valuable instruction, interactive panel discussions, and networking opportunities for artists, bands, promoters and music industry professionals looking to build sustainable connections and utility to their publics.

The SF Musician & Promoter Workshop series covers how-to topics ranging from Facebook basics to integrating mobile phone strategies and applications which enable fast updates from the road. Every workshop offers two How-To sessions and solution-based academic discussions about how to efficiently maintain social networks & social media, and enhance your career as a musician or promoter. All instructors have extensive experience in the music industry & with avid use of social media.

Workshop 2 focuses on Social Network & Social Media Case Studies, How-To sessions, and a 45 minute group discussion about how to turn a potential fan into a passive fan.


Previous workshop contributors include Marisol Segal, Ali Watkins, Jessica Zollman. Watkins, Zollman and Dustin Mitchell of Indiequick.com are the assistant instructors for Workshop 2, led by founder Corey Denis. The entire workshop series is sponsored by Porto Franco Records, a San Francisco based record label working to create and sustain a collective support system for musicians sustained by the SF community. Musician & Promoter Workshop partners also include: SonicLiving, New Music Seminar, SF Music Tech, JamBase, WilloToons & Flux Summit.

The Musician & Promoter Workshop series is founded by local San Franciscan Corey Denis, a pioneer in digital music strategies for 12 years using everything from ListServs & forums to social networks and MMORPGs & forging an early direct deal between an indie label and iTunes before spring of 2005. With extensive experience in the music-tech space and as a former creative writing high school teacher who once taught a class called "The Simpsons & Philosophy" her public Speaking Highlights include SXSW, CMJ, Bandwidth, NoisePop, SF Music Tech, Les Recontres, Web 2.0pen & Future Of Music Policy Summit. Ms. Denis's presentation was accepted by SXSW Interactive (Music 2010: Playlists, Networks, Radio & Numbers You Need) and she is proud to sit on a SxSW Music panel recently featured on the SXSW 2010 website.
